Thrush 510P Wins Brazilian Certification
Legendary agricultural aircraft poised for major success in South American market

(Albany, GA) – Thrush Aircraft today announced that the Brazilian civil aviation authority (ANAC) has fully type-certified the Thrush 510P for commercial operations
in Brazil.

The Thrush 510P (officially designated the Thrush S2R-T34) is well known for its versatility, durability, and safety of operations. The 510P is powered by the 750 shaft horsepower Pratt & Whitney PT6A-34AG turbine engine, which gives the aircraft exceptional power for takeoff and climb – all while carrying maximum hopper loads – as well as the ability to deliver superior spray patterns.

The Thrush 510P also features a 29,000-hour wing spar life, with no mandatory inspections required on the wing spars – a major advantage for owners. Its wide performance envelope, docile handling qualities, and long service life have already made the 510P a favorite among agricultural aviation operators around the world.

The 510P’s certification in Brazil coincides perfectly with the recent opening of
Thrush Aircraft do Brazil, a company created specifically to serve Thrush owners
and operators across the Brazilian nation with sales, service, training and support. With certification in hand, and a new in-country factory authorized sales and service network coming on line, Thrush is poised for massive growth in Brazil’s rapidly expanding agricultural aviation market.

GE's H80 Turboprop Engine Certified By EASA

First OEM Application To Start Deliveries In Early 2012

GE Aviation says a celebration in Prague was held recently to commemorate the certification by EASA of the company's new turboprop engine, the H80. The powerplant is rated at 800 shaft horsepower and weighs 382 pounds. It has been undergoing testing on the Thrush 510G ag plane.

The H80 becomes the first GE Aviation engine to receive its initial type certification from EASA. "The type certification on the H80 engine is a significant achievement for the GE Aviation facility in the Czech Republic along with the engineering teams in Evendale, Ohio, and Lynn, Massachusetts, which helped in the design of the new turboprop engine," said Paul Theofan, president and managing executive of GE Aviation's Business and General Aviation Turboprops.

The H80 is based on the proven M601 engine. GE says 3-D aerodynamic design techniques and advanced materials allowed it to create a more powerful, fuel-efficient, durable engine compared with the M601, with no recurrent fuel nozzle inspections and no hot section inspection. The H80 engine will feature an extended service life of 3,600 flight-hours or 6,600 cycles between overhauls. It will provide the option of a single- or dual-acting governor, allowing customers to have flexibility in propeller selection.

The H80 engine has been selected to power the Thrush 510G, the Aircraft Industries L410 commuter plane, and Technoavia's newly-designed Rysachok twin, a ten-seat general aviation aircraft. The Thrush 510G has been flight testing since last year and entry into service is anticipated early in 2012. Last month, Aircraft Industries began its flight tests of the H80 in the L410, which is expected to enter service in the third quarter of 2012.


GE Aviation says it's ready to support the new engine with a vast worldwide network of service and support centers.

Thrush Pattern tests the New GE Thrush

Thrush is continuing to advance our recognized spay pattern to get maximum efficiency out of every aircraft. The result of this round of testing showed it held its pattern at 150 mph with an additional 10 feet of swath width. By lengthening the nose around 12 inches and the redesigned forward of the hopper, Thrush was able to reduce the gradual tapper ratio and make the GE Thrush more aerodynamically clean. Additional aerodynamic improvements include the new smooth fairing by the air filter: the new design is a continuous smooth surface. The cowl on the hopper has been reduced by 4 inches, which is another enhancement to decrease turbulence.
